90210 quality
- <dino> 90210 was great
- <antoine> it was really awful
- <dino> i’m not even kidding about it. I actually thought it was ok.
- <antoine> you have very low standards
- <dino> true
- <antoine> it sucked balls
Tristan Wilds played Michael Lee on The Wire, which I consider to be the greatest TV drama ever. Jessica Walter played Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development, which I consider to be the greatest TV comedy ever.
They both star in “90210”, which is the remake/reboot of “Beverley Hills 90210”. I have so many smart-ass things to say, but I’m practicing my self-control.
Note: I wanted to center the “before” and “after” text on the images, but that would have hidden Michael’s new pants.

Cupcaking involves paying more attention to a girl than your friends, usually through text-messaging or other means of technological communication. A person will usually be cupcaking when they are attempting to hook-up or flirt with a girl, due to the fact that cupcaking can be viewed as attempting to “warm the girl up.”
Emmy winners for outstanding comedy series
Episode 233 in the continuing obsession with my obsession series.
The Wikipedia entry for The Wonder Years notes that the show won the 1988 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. This is unusual for a number of reasons. The lesser reason is that I would consider it to be more of a drama than a comedy. But the greater reason is that it might just be a show that deserved to win, which is almost unheard of in the Emmys.
Looking at the list of winners there are a few clearly deserving winners:
- Seinfeld
- Arrested Development (which I rate as the best TV comedy ever)
- The Office
But Frasier won five times in a row. And Everybody Loves Raymond twice. The contradiction of Arrested Development and Everybody Loves Raymond is mind bog-goggling.

“Once upon a time there was a girl I knew, who lived across the street. Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that ever happened to me that mattered, in some way had to do with her. That day Winnie and I promised each other that no matter what, that we’d always be together. It was a promise full of passion and truth and wisdom. It was the kind of promiss that can only come from the hearts of the very young.”

“It was the first kiss for both of us. We never really talked about it afterward. But I think about the events of that day again and again. And somehow I know that Winnie does too, whenever some blowhard starts talking about the anonymity of the suburbs or the mindlessness of the TV generation. Because we know that inside each one of those identical boxes, with its Dodge parked out front and its white bread on the table and its TV set glowing blue in the falling dusk, there were people with stories, there were families bound together in the pain and the struggle of love. There where moments that made us cry with laughter, and there were moments, like that one, of sorrow and wonder.”
1 September 2008 - 03:19 | Tags: tv, winniecooper, thewonderyearsMy mind has exploded. I knew that Winnie Cooper went on to study math, but I was not aware she was also an author. It seems she is an expert on such topics as “how to do math without breaking a nail”, something that really would have come in handy during my Winnie Cooper-obsessed, long fingernailed childhood.
Bonus: She’s made a yoga DVD!! According to my calculations, educational textbooks with suggestive titles and included horoscopes plus a two-disc platinum edition meditation DVD equals AWESOME.
Winnie… er, I mean Danica, guest-starred on a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Since the show is about a guy looking for his unobtainable dream girl and is pitched at people who would have grown up watching The Wonder Years, having Winnie Cooper as Ted’s potential soul mate was perfect.

My 2nd favourite apple pie is made by an old Italian woman at the weekly Canberra Region Farmers’ Market. It has plenty of egg and butter in the pastry - yum.
Unfortunately, the 1st favourite apple pie does not have a web site. It’s Dobinsons Bakery Cafe “Apple Crumble”, available for $2.90 at both locations in the Canberra Centre. It has a touch of coconut in the topping - double yum.
I often find myself trying to think up an excuse to go into the city so I can visit Dobinsons.
