Emmy winners for outstanding comedy series
Episode 233 in the continuing obsession with my obsession series.
The Wikipedia entry for The Wonder Years notes that the show won the 1988 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. This is unusual for a number of reasons. The lesser reason is that I would consider it to be more of a drama than a comedy. But the greater reason is that it might just be a show that deserved to win, which is almost unheard of in the Emmys.
Looking at the list of winners there are a few clearly deserving winners:
- Seinfeld
- Arrested Development (which I rate as the best TV comedy ever)
- The Office
But Frasier won five times in a row. And Everybody Loves Raymond twice. The contradiction of Arrested Development and Everybody Loves Raymond is mind bog-goggling.
