Around here we get weekly garbage and fortnightly recycling collection. The recycling bins are bigger and have a bright yellow lid (the ones shown above are for regular garbage).
Most people seem to remember it is garbage day when they see their neighbours’ bins out. I know this because I play a game every over week to look for the biggest cluster of houses that put out their recycling bins on the wrong week. This week I saw 7. It was actually a group of 9, with two houses in the middle of the group knowing it was not the right week.
I was thinking it would be fun to stake-out the houses and see who the garbage trend-setter is. Who is the person that is incorrect but the Alpha Garbologist of their neighbourhood? Or maybe people just see a recycling bin and put theirs out thinking they’d rather be wrong than miss a cycle and have it pile up for another fortnight.
This is the kind of groundbreaking investigative journalism I’d do if I were working in the news media.
